The Best Fall Charcuterie Board Items

Are you looking to add fall flare to your next charcuterie and cheese board? Look no further than this simple fall cheese and charcuterie board.

This fall cheese board is easy to make and a classic take on the autumn tradition of carving pumpkins. I went on WHO 13, Hello Iowa to walk Megan Reuther through these easy steps to take your fall charcuterie boards to the next level.

WHO 13 Hello Iowa

What You’ll Need

  • Pumpkin(s)
  • Pen
  • Knife for carving
  • Ramekin
  • Spoon

Directions

Step 1: Choose a mini pumpkin that is an appropriate size and shape for the board you are creating. If you are looking to add multiple pumpkins on your fall cheese board, select pumpkins that are smaller in size. You always want to look for a pumpkin with a flat bottom that will sit upright.

Step 2: Wipe the pumpkin clean with a soft damp cloth and dry.

Step 3: Take the ramekin and place it face down on the top of the pumpkin. Trace a circle around the ramekin to create the lid.

Step 4: Cut along the drawn circle with a sharp knife.

Step 5: Scoop out the seeds and strings from inside the pumpkin using a spoon. Scrape the inner pulp away.

Step 6: Next, place the dips, nuts, fruit, and other items you would like to eat into the ramekins

Step 7: Finally, place the filled ramekin into the carved pumpkin.

Cheeses and Meats

No fall charcuterie board is complete without the cheeses and meats. The different types of cheeses and meats that you select will add a variety of textures and flavors to your board. For extra fall fun, I like to slice some of my cheeses into spooky shapes (i.e. taking my brie and making a coffin)

Cheeses

  • President Brie
  • Supreme Brie
  • Sharp Cheddar
  • Ellsworth Cheese Curds
  • Aged Gouda

Meat

  • Prosciutto
  • Dried Salami
  • Pre Cut Columbus Pork Roast

What Fruit Should I Use For My Charcuterie Board?

Fruit is the best item to include on your fall board to bring in color and flavors. You will want to pick fruit that is in season and fits the color scheme of your board. For this board, I selected my favorites:

  • Black Berries
  • Honey Crisp Apples
  • Dried Cherries
  • Fig Jam
  • Sour Cherry Spread

For this board, I tried to stick with fruits that were dark in color. Nothing to bright like greens or reds, but more dark purples and cherry.

Crackers and Nuts

No board is complete without crackers and nuts. Adding in crackers and nuts provides that crunch that every board needs. Specifically, this board included the following items:

  • Candied walnuts
  • Valencia sea salt almonds
  • Hy Vee Cravin Crackers

Put Your Board Together

Once you have all the items for the fall cheese board ready to go, assemble the board to include all the delicious meats, cheeses, fruits, spreads, nuts, and crackers. You cannot go wrong by adding in additional Halloween accessories. From pumpkin ramekins to spooky skeletons, creating a fall charcuterie board is a must this season.
